Marine debris and marine mammals: what can be done?


Curious marine mammals such as sea lions may get entangled in manmade debris which can lead to severe injury or death. The 10 minute video “Entanglement of Steller Sea Lions in Marine Debris: Identifying Causes and Finding Solutions” depicts what happens to entangled Steller sea lions in Southeast Alaska and British Columbia and explains why consequences are so severe. The video explores the types of debris that Steller sea lions encounter, where it comes from, and what steps can be taken to reduce entanglements: what can we do to eliminate this threat?
